Many of you are still working from home and need simplicity. We get it. We could write pages of our top product picks, but here are just a few nutrient dense highlights for simple and clean meals/snacks that you may not find at your typical grocery store–that is what we appreciate as well as their connection to the farmers and supporting local businesses.

Veggies/Fruit:

We’ll always start here and the importance of eating the rainbow. Focus on cruciferous vegetables and radishes for their extra liver cleansing benefits. Microgreens are young vegetable superfoods, often containing higher nutrient levels than their mature counterparts. You’ll always see them in our cart. Our other favorite CT brand is Gilberties. As the seasons change, you’ll be seeing even more greens, veggies, fruit and herbs at Mike’s and your local farmer markets. Enjoy the bounty!

Blueberries: These organic beauties flavor is far superior to other berries we have tried.

Seacoast Mushrooms: local to CT and our go-to mushrooms. Enjoy these immunity boosting shrooms in your stir-fry’s, eggs and beyond. Check out our homemade GF mushroom burgers and cream of mushroom vegan soup recipes.

Daikon Radish Microgreens: top your salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza and beyond with microgreens!

Fresh Ginger/Turmeric: we always have these anti-inflammatory powerhouses on hand for smoothies, soups and our immunity broth recipe.

Gut Healers:

70-80% of your immunity resides in your gut. Eat an inflammatory diet, eat and take your probiotics, de-stress your mind/body and more!

Kimchi/Sauerkraut: We love a spoon of these on our salads/meals daily.

Bone Broth @ Nit Noi: We have been drinking Nit Noi for years and many of our clients are devout customers as well. Try their broths and soups. Keep them in the freezer. We love adding them to our homemade soups and when making GF grains we substitute the water for their broth. They also are delicious as is. 1 cup of bone broth boosts ~9 grams of protein and is a great source of collagen and more.

Raw Juicery Celery Juice: We drink ours on an empty stomach first thing in the morning to help heal the gut, bolster the liver and support our body.

Cocojune Probiotic Yogurt: See below.

Breakfast:

WaveHill Sourdough: Local to CT and my kids favorite! It’s a weekly staple.

Gluten Free Sourdough

Siete Grain and Gluten Free Wraps: Lunch or dinner in minutes–we love these heated in a pan with coconut oil–add whatever veggies and protein of your choice.

Gluten-Free Waffles: Kids love the blueberry and chocolate chip flavors. Many of our clients ask for GF waffle ideas, here you go! Great as a grab and go treat too.

Gluten Free Granola paired with Cocojune probiotic yogurt

Snacks:

Medjool Dates: Try paired with nutbutter for extra protein. Dates are loaded with potassium, fiber and are low on the glycemic index.

Monty’s Vegan Cream Cheese (adore it!) or Sprouted Hummus + Gluten Free Crackers + microgreens (see above): Love this trio. Perfect for entertaining or healthy snacking.

Fabalish Vegan Tzatziki: this is a must try vegan dip if you love dipping like I do! Made with Aquafaba (Chickpea Water) and divine. You’ll never miss the dairy. This brand also makes organic falafel (grain and gluten free) that I can’t wait to try! Our kids love falafel.

Organic Raw Walnuts: Healthy fats, we love you.

Organic Mango: Love these for the kids lunches and on the go snacks.

Wild Made Organic Fruit Roll. The perfect healthy alternative to a fruit roll up.

Jone’s Bars: Another grab and go staple for the kids.

Siete Grain and Gluten Free Chips or Luke’s Truffle Chips: Organic and delicious! My kids love both. Siete also makes Grain and Gluten Free Taco Shells and Wraps.

Healing Home Foods Pizza Crackers: Made from clean ingredients, these gluten free crackers taste like pizza and are satisfying.

Sweet Treats:

See blueberries and snacks above!

Hu Kitchen Dark Chocolate: there are plenty of beautiful chocolates at Mike’s, but we love Hu! Their dark chocolate covered almonds are fabulous too.

Meats/Fish:

Local Maine Scallops: These were absolutely delicious and a must try.

Wild For Salmon Burgers: Easy 10 minute meal using wild salmon from Alaska. Many of our clients love these! We do too–they are always in our freezer.

Pasture Raised Chicken and Grass-Fed and Finished Beef: It’s grilling season. Make extra and enjoy all week on salads, etc.

Organic Oven Roasted Turkey Deli Meat: many clients ask how to upgrade processed lunch meats, here you go! Try a turkey roll up with turkey, spinach, microgreens and hummus.

Pasta/EVOO:

I’m a big fan of lentil gluten-free organic pasta (with one ingredient-lentil flour! We love @Tolerant brand). Mike’s carries Jovial Pasta, which is gluten-free and made from 100% organic whole grain rice grown exclusively in Italy. For those of you who don’t have a gluten sensitivity/allergy they carry a fabulous selection of organic pasta and gorgeous EVOO. I’m excited to dive into this truffle organic EVOO.

With Gratitude,

Christine
